Competitive 111 is designed for experienced speed skaters who are ready for more advanced training and competitive opportunities.
This program focuses on developing technical excellence, speed, endurance, and racing strategy. Skaters train in a more challenging environment while continuing to improve their abilities, build confidence, and work toward their individual goals.
Training emphasizes the 111-metre short track, the standard track size used in major short track speed skating competitions.
What you will learn
Our coaches provide structured training designed to help skaters further develop their competitive abilities, including:
- Advanced skating technique and efficiency
- Powerful acceleration and maximum speed
- Precision cornering and edge control
- Race strategy, passing, and positioning
- Endurance, strength, and overall conditioning
- Tactical awareness and decision-making during races
- Mental preparation, goal setting, and sportsmanship
Competitions
Skaters in Competitive 111 have opportunities to participate in local, regional, and national competitions, with some athletes progressing toward international-level events.
Our coaches help athletes prepare for competitions, understand performance goals, and develop the skills needed to compete at increasingly challenging levels.
Athlete Development
Every skater has different goals. Some enjoy competing locally, while others aspire to represent Nova Scotia at provincial, national, or higher-level competitions.
Our program supports individual development, helping athletes improve their performance while encouraging teamwork, dedication, and a lifelong enjoyment of speed skating.
Equipment
Skaters require properly fitted speed skates and appropriate protective equipment meeting current short track safety requirements. Club rental equipment may be available, depending on sizing and availability.
