OUR STORY
Club History & Achievements
Celebrating the people, partnerships and milestones that have shaped Dartmouth Crossing Speed Skating Club.
OUR BEGINNINGS
Growing the sport since 2016.
Established in 2016 as a mobile skating club, Dartmouth Crossing Speed Skating Club developed opportunities for children, youth and adults to discover skating, build skills and pursue speed skating. The club has continued to serve the Halifax area through introductory and competitive programming.
From a first skating lesson to competition, the club’s story has been shaped by coaches, skaters, families, volunteers and community partners.
HISTORY OF INCLUSION
Our partnership with Special Olympics Nova Scotia.
Dartmouth Crossing has partnered with Special Olympics Nova Scotia to provide integrated speed skating opportunities for many years. A January 2024 Sport Nova Scotia profile reported that the program welcomed approximately 10 to 15 Special Olympics athletes per season.
That partnership forms an important part of the club’s history and its commitment to increasing access to skating which continues today.
